Harriers have picked up just two points out of 12 and have failed to score in their last two outings after a disappointing result at Moss Rose.
Goals from John Miles on 51 minutes and Danny Whitaker on 54 minutes gave Harriers a severe jolt in their play-off hunt.
After Harriers had largely controlled the first half without creating much in the way of chances, Macclesfield were the better side in the second 45 minutes.
There were early warning signs for Harriers on 47 minutes when an unmarked Lightbourne headed Whitaker's corner straight at Brock.
And Macclesfield were ahead four minuets later when Dunning played the ball in to Miles, who replaced Tipton at half-time, and he was given far too much space to plant a low shot into the bottom corner.
Before Harriers could recover Macclesfield were two ahead, when Miles's pass across the box was finished off with a crisp 20-yard drive from attacking midfielder Whitaker.
There were two players booked in the second half, with Smith cautioned for a foul on Lightbourne and Macclesfield's Priest yellow carded for dissent.
Boss Britton made a double substitution on 65 minutes with Foster and debutant McAuley on for Bishop and Shilton.
There was little chance for new boy McAuley with Harriers already two goals down but he did deliver some useful crosses and attempted several shots, though they flew well off target.
Macclesfield brought on Haddrell for Priest and could have added a third 12 minutes from time but Whitaker's header from Adams' cross hit the near post.
Foster skied a volley over the stand on 80 minutes in a rare opening for Harriers.
The visitors brought on youth team midfielder Heath for his first team debut late on, the youngster taking the place of Parrish in a game watched by 2,069.
