IS it nave of me to expect that the city council should be keen to foster and encourage the arts and culture in Worcester?
The benefit from a thriving theatre in the city is out of all proportion to the relatively small amount of money needed to subsidise its activities.
On the other hand, there is a fine tradition of our city fathers destroying anything of cultural worth or historical anything of cultural worth or historical value.
The council seems determined to empty the city of schools, hospital, theatre and all interest, in their rush to bring us more supermarkets and chain stores.
In the 19th Century, the Guildhall itself was doomed for demolition by the city fathers.
Then outrage and outcry by the citizens prevented such a mistake. Perhaps we should learn from history rather than repeat it.
