JOHN Melligan is Kidderminster Harriers' main injury concern ahead of tomorrow's tough Nationwide League Division Three clash against high-riding Bury at Aggborough (3pm).
The influential midfield player is battling to overcome an ankle injury which he aggravated during last Saturday's disappointing 2-1 defeat at Darlington.
It forced the 20-year-old to be substituted in the second half and also prevented him from playing in Tuesday's humiliating 2-1 Worcestershire Senior Cup quarter-final defeat against Bromsgrove Rovers at Aggborough.
Melligan, who has scored eight goals during his current loan spell from Wolverhampton Wanderers, is rated as having a '50-50' chance of being fit in time to face Bury whose player-manager is former Worcester City striker Andy Preece.
Harriers' other injury worries involve midfielders Dean Bennett and Sam Shilton and defender Kenny Coleman.
Bennett has a damaged toe and Shilton is suffering from a knee problem, although both are expected to be fit after missing the Bromsgrove defeat.
On-loan Coleman is hoping to overcome a groin injury which caused him to be substituted against Rovers.
Striker Drewe Broughton will again be missing as he completes a four-match suspension.
Kidderminster have slipped to 14th in the table after two defeats and a draw in their last three league outings and will be anxious to lift their confidence.
Manager Ian Britton said: "If we can bounce back by winning tomorrow and on Tuesday against Oxford then the Bromsgrove result won't bother me."
Britton, however, is expecting a difficult test against third-in-the-table Bury who are unbeaten in their last four league matches, a sequence which began on December 29 when they drew 1-1 at home with Harriers.
Since then the Shakers have beaten Hull City and Swansea and drawn with Boston United.
On Tuesday, however, they bowed out of the LDV Vans Trophy when they lost their northern section semi-final 3-2 at Carlisle United, the home side scoring a 'golden goal' following a 2-2 deadlock after extra time.
Harriers, meanwhile, are continuing to run the rule over a number of players in a bid to strengthen their squad.
Twenty-year-old left back Alex Mortimer, who has been on trial at Aggborough and played against Bromsgrove, has now left the club. He used to be on Leicester City's books.
The latest trialist is 22-year-old former Walsall player Dion Scott, who has been training with Harriers after being released by Mansfield Town.
FORMCAST: A 2-1 defeat is on the cards for Harriers.
