JOHN Snape will be seeking a reverse in fortunes at tomorrow's away clash at Welling United (3pm).
The Park View Road ground has proved an unlucky venue for the midfielder who never managed a win there during his time with Halesowen Town or Hereford United.
Fortunately for Snape the omens look good because Worcester City have a successful record at the Kent club.
Last year's 3-1 victory, which featured a Mark Shepherd hat-trick, was their second away win on the bounce since Welling's return to the Dr Martens Premier Division from the Nationwide Conference -- indeed, City have never failed to win there.
Snape has been an integral part of City's early season form and fulfilled manager John Barton's expectations when he brought the tough-tackling midfielder to the club.
But the 32-year-old has also displayed a deft touch and his composure on the ball has helped Worcester produce some sparkling possession play.
Along with new signings Pat Lyons and David Foy, Snape says they are still finding their feet but believes there is a lot more to come.
"We are working on things in training but when you introduce three new players into midfield it is bound to take a little time to get it right," he said.
"But they are good players and I think we can get better."
City go into tomorrow's match and Monday's home clash with Moor Green in confident mood, buoyed by Monday's brilliant 2-1 victory against Newport County and their ability to withstand pressure.
"The biggest thing is that as long as we can stay in the game there is always the likelihood of us scoring a goal," added Snape.
"I think we've got goals up front though it was the defenders Carl Heeley and Jon Holloway that scored against Newport so I think I'm going to have to have a word with Mark Owen."
Welling have lost just once in their opening four games, on Monday to Crawley Town, with two draws and a win against Moor Green.
Wings' new manager Bill Williams has strengthened his squad with the addition of Steve Searle from Barnet, James Virgo, Raphael Nade and Kevin Seabury.
Nade has replaced veteran striker Gary Abbott who has signed for Grays Athletic.
Captain Mark Hone leads a tight defensive unit but with a reputation for direct football it is at set pieces that Welling could pose the biggest threat to City.
All their goals this season have come from dead-ball situations, however free-kick specialist Virgo is a doubt for the game after picking up a knock in the victory against the Moors.
Formcast: Buoyant City to clip Welling's wings 2-1.
