KIDDERMINSTER Harriers have released rookie defender Scott Lower ahead of tonight's Wor-cestershire Senior Cup quarter-final against Dr Martens League Western Division leaders Bromsgrove Rovers at Aggborough (7.45).
The 18-year-old has failed to break into the first team and boss Ian Britton is now looking to add experience to his squad.
Britton said: "Scott needs to keep developing and unfortunately we can't offer him that at the moment and we haven't got a reserve side.
"He isn't ready for the the Football League and unfortunately for him I need players in the squad who are."
Lower signed non-contract forms for Harriers in the summer after progressing through the club's youth and reserve ranks.
He appeared for the first team during the pre-season programme and made his full debut as a substitute against Nottingham Forest in the Worthington Cup.
Harriers, who won the Worcestershire Senior Cup last season by beating Moor Green 2-1 on aggregate in the two-leg final, have an injury free squad to chose from tonight expect for long-term casualty Scott Stamps (groin).
James Dyson is ruled out for Bromsgrove with an Achilles injury while Mark Clifton (rib injury) is also sidelined.
Grant Beckett (foot) and former Harriers campaigner Steve Pope (thigh) are both doubtful.
Ashley Read and ex-Aggborough front-runner Les Palmer are set to start while assistant player-manager Gary Hackett may make a rare appearance.
"We'll need to make changes and I'm sure Harriers will put out a good side," said Hackett.
New signing Darren Bullock is not eligible for Rovers which is a blow according to Hackett after the midfielder's impressive debut in their 2-1 win at Atherstone United on Saturday.
Bullock replaced Frazer McHugh, who has left the club last Thursday, and the ex-Worcester City man was an immediate hit.
"We all now about Darren's background and at times he has had problems but you can't take away his ability or competitive edge," said Hackett.
FORMCAST: Harriers to win 2-0.
