BEN Smith hit a half-century for Worcestershire as their two-day friendly with Derbyshire ended in a draw at Derby yesterday.
The former Leicester batsman scored an unbeaten 52 as the County closed on 145-4 in their second innings, supported by fellow new signing Stephen Peters (40). The two sides agreed to end the match early when Smith reached 50.
Earlier Kabir Ali, Chris Liptrot and Stuart Lampitt ended with three wickets each as Derbyshire, who were 119-4 overnight, were bowled out for 278 with Dominic Hewson hitting a fine 101.
