A GRUESOME account of the deadly deeds and last moments of two women was given by Berrow's Journal this week exactly a century ago under the heading "Baby Farm Women Executed."
"Anne Walters (54) and Amelia Sach (29) were hanged at Holloway Prison this week, Walters for the murder of an infant, and Sach for being a party to the crime.
"At their trial it was stated that Sach, who kept a nursing home, received children from their mothers and obtained money on the pretext that they would be taken by foster parents who would bring them up. However, the stark truth was that the children were handed over to Walters to be done to death.
"Neither of the wretched women offered any resistance to their execution.
"Each took up her position without assistance, and a moment later the drop fell, death was stated to have been instantaneous."
