A NATIVE of Studley, 40-year-old Warrant Officer Cyril Allcock, of the Royal Air Force, was awarded an MBE (Military Division) in the New Year's Honours List.
Mr Allcock, one of three sons of the late Mr and Mrs Frank Allcock, was born at 3 Balmoral Place, Redditch Road, Studley.
His father, a motorcycle tester, was a noted racing cyclist.
Before enlisting in the RAF in January 1931, Mr Allcock was employed in the repair offices of the BSA Co Ltd until that department was transferred to Small Heath.
His two brothers live in Studley.
One brother, Dennis, served with the famous 'Desert Rats' from the formation of that division until the end of the war.
He was released as a sergeant and is now living in Toms Town, Studley.
