THE long-awaited launch of the Kidderminster Harriers Independent Supporters Trust is set for Saturday after the Division Three fixture with fellow play-off chasers Scunthorpe United.
A public meeting has been arranged for the Supporters and Social Club at Aggborough, starting from 5.30pm, with Harriers fans urged to attend the landmark event.
The initiative is a result of the efforts of long-standing Harriers regulars who have been guided by the Government-backed Supporters Direct organisation.
The trust's Alan Shepherd said: "The launch comes nearly a year after the announcement of the trust's formation because of a delay caused by disagreements between the original committee.
"We felt that the delay was necessary in order to be sure that we got things absolutely right."
Presentations will be made at the evening by Supporters Direct representatives, local politicians and key members of the football club.
The trust have laid out their aims as follows:
1. To strengthen bonds between Harriers and the community in Wyre Forest and the surrounding area, and to represent their views and that of supporters in the running of the club.
2. To promote Harriers in the community and to seek to unify all supporters, local politicians of all parties, the players, staff and directors for the benefit of the club.
3. To raise money and donate it to the football club to be spent in promoting the aims and objectives of the trust, and to benefit the community and supporters of Harriers.
4. To encourage positive relations between the supporters of Harriers and those of other clubs.
The doors will open at 5pm on Saturday and once established, the trust will be an industrial and provident society, regulated by the Registrar of Friendly Societies.
