MIDFIELDER Sean Flynn will lead Kidderminster Harriers out for their first Football League game of the season after finally completing his move.
Flynn, released after two years at Tranmere Rovers, yesterday penned a one-year deal at Aggborough to end speculation he may head elsewhere.
Harriers initially tabled a three-month contract but the vastly experienced 34-year-old required more security.
And after Flynn impressed in Saturday's final friendly, a 3-2 win over rivals Cheltenham Town, boss Ian Britton set about extending the offer.
At least two Division Three clubs came up with more lucrative packages but they were based outside the Midlands and Bromsgrove man Flynn fancied something closer to home.
His reward will be the captain's armband which he will wear for Saturday's opening Division Three clash with Lincoln City at home.
Britton said: "Sean is a leader in the true sense of the word. He has an unbelievable engine, he's a battler, a creator and will bring the best out of the players around him.
"He has played at a high level most of his career but his non-league background has ensured he has the right footballing ethics."
Flynn is Harriers' second summer signing, following fellow midfielder Sean Parrish who joined on a free transfer from Chesterfield.
He has played more than 370 games for Coventry City, Derby County, Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion and Tranmere since leaving non-league Halesowen Town 11 years ago.
It will be Flynn's first season in Division Three and he brings plenty of Premier League experience.
Known as a tough-tackling midfielder with good passing ability, he can also score goals with 32 to his credit so far.
Britton added: "The signing of Sean hasn't compromised our budget as we had just enough money to bring him in.
"There were a number of other clubs interested in him but the pleasing thing is he hasn't come here for financial reasons."
Harriers should have just two players missing for the Lincoln match, midfielder Mark Blake and striker Ian Foster who is banned for two games.
And Britton will be looking for a clean sheet after Harriers leaked 15 goals in seven pre-season friendlies.
Cash-strapped Lincoln could have a tough campaign ahead but are now out of administration.
Harriers head to Bournemouth on Tuesday (7.45pm) for their first away fixture.
