DAVID Officer has warned Ben Hinshelwood he is gunning for his place after his move to Worcester Rugby Club.
The 29-year-old centre sealed his switch from Edinburgh to Sixways yesterday and immediately began to focus on getting into the first team.
Worcester's hottest property - Hinshelwood - was one of the stars of last season and is currently blocking his path to the outside centre spot.
But Officer is undaunted by the challenge of removing the newly capped Scottish star as he prepares for Worcester's promotion push.
"I'm certainly not coming down to Worcester to play second-team rugby," said Officer.
"There has been a fair bit of chat up here about me and Ben and he has done really well for the club and on tour recently. I watched him against Moseley in the final game of last season and he is a big, strong boy with a lot of talent.
"However, I'm coming to Worcester to play first team rugby and outside centre is my strongest position. I've got the pre-season games to come and when I get my chance, I aim to take it."
Officer, who is yet to win a full Scotland cap despite a host of 'A' team appearances, said he was delighted to move to Worcester after falling out with the coaches at Edinburgh.
"I don't see eye-to-eye with the coaches at Edinburgh and I needed a new challenge," he added.
"Worcester have a fantastic set-up and they really impressed me the way they talked. They are very ambitious and match my own ambitions. I want to get back in the Premiership and am very hungry to play at the top level."
The ex-Harlequins man believes working with assistant coach Andy Keast will bring the best out of him.
"Andy actually signed me for Quins but after a coaching restructure, he left," said Officer. "I wanted to get the chance to work with him because I've always admired him as a coach. He gets the best from his players and gets the team working as a unit.
"I have big ambitions and Worcester will give me the chance to realise those. I think I've been unfortunate not to win a cap for Scotland but obviously, that is something to put right."
Meanwhile, Hinshelwood played the whole match for Scotland as they beat United States 'A' 24-8 in Portland last night.
