STOURPORT Swifts boss Tim Langford is treating the weekend's poor display at Gloucester City as a one-off.
Langford hopes it will be business as usual when they return to Gloucestershire on Saturday to face mid-table Cinderford Town in the Dr Martens Western Division.
Swifts' 2-0 loss at Gloucester was only their second defeat in nine games but Langford was not happy with what he saw.
Swifts were without young winger Alex Cowley who has joined Halesowen Town on loan until the end of the season.
Cowley is aiming to win a permanent transfer to the title favourites which would earn Swifts a fee under the Bosman ruling.
Langford, whose swoop for Evesham's Shaun Pratt failed, hopes for one or two new faces to help cover for midfielder Ian Cottrill, out for at least one game with a groin strain.
And he reflected: "We can all be good players when we are winning but when things are not going right, we don't seem prepared to stand up and be counted.
"It's something I thought we had turned around and got to the bottom of but Saturday seemed to go back to old ways.
"I understand we're not going to win every game but I thought we lacked a bit of direction and leadership on the pitch.
"I've got no problems if we get beaten by a better team but Gloucester weren't and we just didn't perform.
"There isn't a lot of scope for me to change the team but the players have proved in the past that they can play so let's hope it's a one-off blip."
Striker Andy Wright is still struggling with hamstring trouble, while defender Steve Ulfig will get his knee injury checked out today.
Ulfig could miss the rest of the season as will veteran Mark Dearlove who has boosted spirits by returning to training.
Langford added: "We've got to be happy with the position we're in for our first season but it's disappointing when you know the players can do it and they don't."
Meanwhile, rivals Redditch have been found not guilty by Birmingham FA over an alleged illegal approach to Lee Booth.
But Swifts' appeal cash deposit, which should be kept by the FA if a case is lost, has been returned to them.
Fans can catch a lift to Cinderford with a coach leaving Walshes Meadow at 12.15pm on Saturday.
