Evesham Utd Ladies 3, Malvern Tn 6
DESPITE having a player sent off ten minutes before half- time, Evesham staged an encouraging performance against a physical opposition last Sunday.
Malvern, who had already defeated United twice this season, looked very shaky as the hosts rocked them with early goals from Lisa Tustin and Nicky Bond.
Malvern reduced the deficit midway through the half but, despite their disadvantage, Evesham hung on to their lead at the break.
Five minutes into the second period, the Common Road side increased their lead when Bond, receiving the ball deep inside her own half, ran the length of the pitch before coolly beating the advancing goalkeeper.
As the second half wore on, the physically stronger Malvern side made their numerical advantage count and levelled as Evesham conceded two soft goals.
A three-goal burst inside the final ten minutes gave a rather unjust scoreline after all of Eve-sham's earlier hard work.
With the ladies now taking a two-week break over the festive period, they can look forward with confidence to the new year, when hopefully the superior football they have shown in their last three games can give them the victories that their performances have deserved.
