YOU can visit the fairytale world of Cinderella at the Civic this week, where the popular film comes to life with sumptuous costumes.

While easy to show "magic" on film, it is harder to recreate on stage, but SCOS have come up with some innovative ideas, such as when the vegetables suddenly become peeled and, of course, Cinders' transformation scene.

Richard and Robert Sherman's music is nowhere near good enough for the talented singers of Stourport Op Soc - in fact in the first half it is dire with songs such as A Bride Finding Ball.

The best songs come in the second half, where we at last get to hear the wonderful voices of Claire Worboys as Cinderella and Jonathan Darby as the Prince in Secret Kingdom, When He/She Danced With Me and I Can't Forget The Melody which are not memorable songs, but are performed beautifully.

Mary Sinclair is a scene-stealing Fairy Godmother, Charles Combes excellent as a bumbling King, Brian Potter superb as the foppish Montague, and Gwynneth Savageas the wicked stepmother, Caroline Worthington and Sophie Heywood brilliant as her awful daughters.

Another scene-stealer who needs to be mentioned is Georgia Parsons as a gorgeous little dog.
