A PAVEMENT-pounding bookie is gearing up for this year's London Marathon.
Andy Johnson, relief manager at the Mark Jarvis betting shop, is planning to run the 26.2 miles for Children Nationwide - a charity which funds research into children's diseases.
Andy, of Pennine Road, has been training for the marathon since New Year and has run several half marathons, including the Great North Run.
A former betting shop owner, Andy is 40 in November and wanted to run the marathon before his birthday.
He has to raise £1,250 to take part and has £600 in pledges from family and friends, including from West Midlands Racing Club.
If anyone wishes to help Andy raise the money call into Mark Jarvis betting shop, on Broad Street, Sidemoor and sponsor him.
The London Marathon will be held on Sunday, April 13.
