MORE than 50 people who have battled to overcome mental ill health have been given recognition for their achievements.
Worcester MP Mike Foster presented certificates at a special award ceremony on Friday to students who were taking their first steps back towards training and employment.
The presentations were hosted by Worcester Sixth Form College, in conjunction with Worcester College of Technology.
Mr Foster congratulated the award winners, recognising the special obstacles faced by people in their recovery from mental ill health.
Pete Jordan, team leader at Shrub Hill Workshop, part of Worcestershire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, said they now had a wonderful range of courses at different levels.
"People can just dip their toe in the water through a short course like first aid, or can get a nationally recognised qualification in subjects like computing or carpentry," he said.
