A NOTORIOUS Worcestershire road was closed for several hours after a car crashed into a tree.
A 28-year-old man is in a critical condition at Worcestershire Royal Hospital following the accident on the A449 near Hawford Wood.
Firefighters from Hereford and Worcester Fire Brigade had to cut the man free from his yellow Vauxhall Tigra Coupe, which coillided with the central reservation. He is believed to be from the north Worcestershire area.
The accident happened around 1.30am on Sunday, April 6. No other vehicles were involved.
Two crews from Worcester's Blue Watch and the emergency tender attended the scene.
"It was a very serious accident," said sub officer Steve Laugher.
"The driver had serious injuries and we had to remove him quickly."
All four lanes of the A449 were closed for four-and-a-half hours.
Officers want to hear from anyone who saw the Vauxhall Tigra either in Worcester or on the A449 before the accident 08457 444888 0048-SS060403.
