EVESHAM United's failure to convert a host of chances proved their undoing, when they lost 1-0 at home to Gloucester City in the Dr Martens League Western Division.
It was a game United should have won comfortably. The second half especially was so one-sided that Evesham 'keeper Tim Hart did not have a save to make.
But as the half wore on, there was always the threat that Gloucester would breakaway and grab a goal. And that's exactly what they did.
With four minutes to go, full-back Lee Smith burst into the Evesham penalty area and crossed low to Jimmy Cox, who sidefooted home.
It was tough on Evesham who went into the game without a recognised striker.
Wesley Joyce has been told by doctors not to play again this season following a clash of heads at Shepshed last week. Mark Shepherd was named on the teamsheet but had to withdraw after aggravating an injury in the warm-up.
Chances were hard to come by during an even first half. But Evesham upped the tempo in the second and bombarded the Gloucester goal.
Inderpaul Khela shot across the face of an unguarded goal and headed Nick Heath's cross agonisingly wide with Matt Bath in the Gloucester goal beaten.
Skipper Nathan Jukes thumped a 25-yarder against the bar and then Khela, Paul Oakey and Mark Wolsey were all within inches of breaking the deadlock.
But on 86 minutes, a lapse of concentration saw United fall for the 'sucker punch' at the other end.
