HEREFORD United's play-off ambitions were dealt a major blow last night when rivals Dagenham & Redbridge won their game in hand.
Fifth-placed Daggers beat Leigh RMI 3-1 with a Steve West hat-trick to leave the Bulls seven points adrift in sixth place with just four matches left to play.
The defeat means United must rely on Morecambe and Dagenham slipping up in they are to gain one of the inaugural Nationwide Conference play-offs spots.
United won only their second game in eight matches on Saturday with their 4-0 demolition of Burton Albion including a Steve Guinan brace.
Graham Turner's United side travel to Yorkshire on Saturday for a difficult clash with eighth-placed Halifax Town.
