IN answer to Gary Webb's recent letter (You Say, March 26) he either doesn't know the difference between federalism and dictatorship, or he is deliberately mixing the two together to accommodate his own anti-EU argument.

To take his twisted argument to its logical end, the federations of America and Canada must be both dictatorial then, which is a ridiculous argument.

Furthermore, when Europe becomes a federation, why should he presume that the EU commissioners in Brussels would be any more dictatorial than the US senators in Washington?

His letter also alleges that the "15 - soon to be 25 - can never succeed." Is that an opinion, or a theory - in which case, what is it based upon?

The USA is made up of 50 individual states, with two non-contiguous states, namely Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean and Alaska on the other side of Canada.
