AN argument between two friends ended with one having 20 stitches after being shoved through a shop window.

Anthony Rusher, of Coronation Street, Evesham, pleaded guilty to unlawfully wounding Dean Smith and causing criminal damage, at Worcester Magistrates Court yesterday.

The incident took place after Rusher met Mr Smith outside the Wetherspoons pub, in Evesham, on Sunday, March 30 and walked with a group of friends to Bridge Street.

An argument then broke out - over comments Mr Smith allegedly made - during which Rusher pushed his friend through the window of the British Heart Foundation's Bridge Street shop.

Mr Smith, who has known Rusher for about seven years, needed 13 stitches to a wound in his arm and seven stitches to cuts to his head.

The window, which was 14ft by 10ft wide, was later priced at £1,020.30.

"Mr Smith said 'it's nothing, we've just had a falling out', when the police arrived at the scene," said Chris Hilton, defending.

Mr Hilton also added in mitigation that his client had co-operated with police, admitted responsibility and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.

The case was adjourned, so a pre-sentence report could be examined, until Wednesday, May 7.
