I write to comment on the new road layout on the Sainsbury roundabout.
What a mess! If it is the highways department's intention to frustrate motorists further by reducing road space and causing more congestion for motorists, they have succeeded.
How can they justify dedicating a lane for the store only?
Are they suggesting the majority of cars using this road are going to the store? I think not.
I have been using this stretch of road for the last 13 years travelling into Birmingham to work and there has never been a problem. Traffic always seems to flow quite freely.
The only times I have seen congestion is when the fire station holds its annual fireworks display.
We now have more markings and hatching on the road than you would believe.
This will only lead to confusion and accidents. They have removed the natural flow of traffic as the contour of the road was originally layed out for.
I hope some time is spent
monitoring how the traffic congestion has built up since the markings were laid and the amount of accidents there are on this roundabout and its approaches.
