WHAT is happening to the roads in Redditch? After the cycle paths on main roads, which end in space and are not used because of parked cars and buses loading and unloading on them, we now have Sainsbury's island.
I approached it from Birmingham, saw on the road 'local traffic' thought 'that's me, I live in Redditch'.
I found myself heading for the crematorium, got back on the right path, found a huge hatched area, which would take two lanes of traffic.
I have never had difficulty with this island and as far as I know, it has never been considered dangerous.
Meanwhile, the pedestrian lights on the dual carriageway by the roundabout at the bottom of Salts Hill are less than 100 yards from a road bridge.
They are for traffic calming.
The alteration at the top of Studley Road - the previous road with the Give Way sign was perfectly OK.
Either the authorities have a surplus of money which they have to spend before the end of the financial year or someone is selling them a lot of road paint which they want to use up.
