After starting off as a trainee at Liverpool, Williams was released at the age of 19 to return to his native Wrexham.
The Wales U-21 international played on-off for the Second Division club but made a good impression with many for his uncompromising style and passing skills.
After a loan spell at Conference outfit Doncaster, he was freed and became Jan Molby's first summer signing of 2001/02.
Williams, who can also play in defence, emerged as a Harriers fans' favourite with his consistent, non-stop displays as a midfield anchorman last season.
Now a key figure, he will be looking to add more goals to enhance his growing reputation.
League appearances/goals: Wrexham (99/00) 24/1, (00/01) 15/2, Harriers (01/02) 38/1.
