CHRIS Garrard has vowed to put his Millmoor misery behind him by leading Worcester to victory in Saturday's clash of the titans with Rotherham at Sixways.

The winger, who was notoriously sent off during Worcester's 38-13 defeat in November, is eyeing a slice of personal redemption.

After returning to full training today following a groin injury, the Australian cannot wait to banish the memory of his second half red card.

"The sending off at Rotherham was probably my lowest point in rugby," he said.

"I had scored a try earlier in the match so I went from the highest high to lowest low in a very quick time."

Garrard was sent off following a high tackle on Jacob Rauluni and the dismissal sparked a Rotherham comeback after Worcester led 13-6 at half time.

"That was the only card I have received in my whole career," he added. "I didn't know exactly how to react but that has gone now. I have no control over that.

"I have some control over Saturday, though, and that's what I am focusing on.

"We had great backing from our supporters at Rotherham and we want to pay them back because they were immense. We have by far the best supporters in National One and they deserve something to cheer about."

The 25-year-old believes the present Worcester squad care much more about the club than previous incumbents and, for him, Saturday's Sixways clash is personal.

"For the first time a game of rugby is going to have an effect on my life," he said.

"In the past, rugby has been a bit of a hobby to me but now a lot depends on this game. If we lost there would be a lot of people out of work, moving on and unfortunately we wouldn't be in Worcester if that's the case.

"But I don't want to leave here. I have got a house in the city now, have settled in nicely and like the place.

"I want to stay and play my rugby here. This game carries so much importance off the pitch as well as on it -- it's personal.

"Players might not have cared in the past about the club. I can assure you that's not the case now. The squad here now care passionately about the club and the supporters."
