BROMSGROVE RFC Colts cruised into the North Midlands Plate final with a crushing 38-0 victory at Stourbridge.

Missing three-quarters Nathan Blair, Frazer Higgins and Chris Abrams, Town brought in juniors Tom Crook and Warren Oliver, a decision which decided the game. Oliver edged man of the match while Crook scored two superb tries.

After 15 minutes of below average play from both sides, Bromsgrove started to surge forward. An infringement gave Ben Copson a chance for a penalty, but it fell just wide.

Shortly afterward, from a scrum, Stephen Blackburn rolled over the line for the opening score, converted by Copson.

The pressure now being applied by Bromsgrove, Oliver and Copson set up Frank Hale for the second. Again Copson added the conversion. The visitors led 14-0 at the break.

Bromsgrove went further ahead in controversial circumstances, Copson refusing a penalty to play in Ward who trotted in unopposed to score a converted try.

Almost immediately Crook scored the first of his brace, racing in on the right wing after deft work by Oliver. His next was from the left wing.

The Bromsgrove forwards began battering away at Stourbridge's defence with incisive running from Oliver. He then launched the kick that sealed the match.

Bromsgrove will face Dudley Kingswinford or Old Halesonians at Droitwich Spa RFC on Sunday, April 27 at 1.30pm.
