DROITWICH Spa RFC First XV rested key players ahead of their Midlands Four West (South) promotion decider this Saturday in a 40-29 friendly defeat at Redditch.
Bringing in youngsters for a run out, Spa put on a fine display and scored via a hat-trick of tries from hooker Nick Irwin as well as scores from Mark Sheen and Ben Cottrell. Matt Blackmore converted two of the touchdowns.
Droitwich Seconds dismantled their Redditch counterparts 86-0 at the Glyn Mitchell Memorial Ground.
Spa ran in 14 unanswered tries. Leon Hopkins bagged a hat-trick with Steve Duffield, Kev Smith and Ian Kilner scoring two each.
James Wray, Mike Hobbs, James Davies, Ross Coombes and Craig Burgess all touched down once.
Dean Evans had an indifferent day with his kicking, converting eight of his efforts.
