RECKEY Carter could miss most of Barnt Green Spartak's Midland Combination division two championship run-in after damaging his ankle in his side's 5-2 defeat at Handsworth United last Saturday.

Carter, who needed hospital treatment after landing awkwardly in a divot, joined Marvin Gorman and Clinton Bell in a trio of Spartak players to leave the field injured.

The match saw GJ Singh's side lose their way temporarily in the title race, losing Gorman to ankle ligament trouble after just two minutes into their 6pm kick-off and going 1-0 down on 20 minutes.

Bell was forced off four minutes later with an injury but Spartak held out to the interval without conceding another.

The visitors were level within 15 minutes of the re-start when Carter scored from the penalty spot after being fouled by former Spartak player Rod Hayles.

Five minutes later Spartak were 2-1 up after Simon Campbell netted from close range. But Spartak then had a crazy five minutes, giving away a needless penalty and conceding a soft goal to trail 3-2 with 18 minutes left.

Spartak were even forced to play out the last 15 minutes with only ten men as top scorer Carter was carried off with an ankle injury, which landed him in hospital.

Handsworth scored their fourth with ten minutes to go and were awarded another penalty three minutes from time.
