DEAR EDITOR -- Once again I find it necessary to point out that several remarks about me in your Letters pages over the past weeks are completely untrue.

Mr. Facer claims he is still waiting for a reply to queries, having written to me. Not true. At the time he was embroiled in a 'neighbour' dispute and had reported the district council to the Local Ombudsman for what he claimed was their failure to serve enforcement orders. In these circumstances I ensured that Mr.Facer received full and detailed answers from the officers of the council and, in due course, the judgement of the Ombudsman completely clearing the council.

Mr. Yardley stated, quite correctly, that I had dubbed a Waitrose planning application, which included a white roof and side panels, a potential 'Millenium disaster'. He omitted to mention that what I supported was a revised application with a change of roof colour and the side panels removed (as recommended by English Heritage). When the critical financial details of this scheme were agreed there was unanimous support from both Labour and Conservative Droitwich members.

Last week Mr.Whitam claimed that I had voted to demolish Highfields Hospital and build flats. Well, that would have been rather difficult as they were actually built before I became a member of the council.

This week Mr.Whitam claims that I was chair of the CHC when the Health Authority decided to close the hospital. Again this is quite wrong. I was a member of the Community Health Council when they voted not to refer the decision of the Health Authority to the Secretary of State. I was not chairman at that time and did not make any proposition. Obviously Mr.Whitam completely misunderstands the role of a Community Health Council.

I now know what it feels like to be targeted by 'school bullies.'

Pam Davey.
