DEAR EDITOR -- I'd like to take this opportunity to wish happy Mother's Day to the mother of the thief who stole my small, but treasured statue from my front garden at 2.25 on Mother's Day morning.
Amazingly, this must have been a premeditated crime as they arrived by car and specifically targeted something that could not possibly have been spotted by chance in the dark.
So instead of a day of peace and harmony for my wife to spend with her children and husband, we have spent the day pondering the mindless arrogance of people who can think no further than their own self-satisfaction with no regard to the feelings of others.
The whole sordid episode has ruined my wife's special day. I just hope that the statue has made a worthy Mother's Day gift to the mother of the yob who stole it.
Perhaps she may read this letter and realise that her offspring did indeed put a lot of effort into obtaining her present, albeit not of the kind which she perhaps expects. I hope she's proud of her family's deviousness and lack of regard for community spirit.

Droitwich.
