BUDDING artists are being urged to submit their work for a town exhibition.

The Bromsgrove Art Exhibition will open its doors to the public on Saturday, April 26, and is one of the first items on the packed programme at this year's town festival.

Taking place at All Saints Church, there is still a little space to fill with the work of townsfolk who are a dab hand with a paintbrush, pastel or pencil. Event organiser and former Bromsgrove trader Tony Turpin said: "We are always on the look out for work to show at this annual exhibition."

Tony is celebrating his eighth art exhibition at the Burcot Lane church and has also run the All Saints Art Club for more than 20 years.

Club members will be exhibiting their work, along with pieces by the Bromsgrove Art Club, Lickey Hills Art Society, Bromsgrove Arts Association, Cofton Hackett Art Society and the Avoncroft Art Society.

Last year, there were 450 paintings produced by 140 artists on sale for £15 to £400. Artists used watercolours, pastels, oils and acrylic to depict landscapes, still life and portraits.

Bromsgrove Festival chairman Mary White will open the show, which runs until May 10. It will be open every day from 10am to 4pm, apart from on Sunday when the display is open from 11am to 4pm.

Admission, including a programme, is £1 with all proceeds going to the All Saints Church restoration fund.
