MAJOR investment could be winging its way to a busy community hall in Droitwich Spa, if discussions were successful last night.
The town council is seeking thousands of pounds for essential structural repairs and cosmetic work at its Heritage Way centre.
At a Wychavon District Council meeting yesterday, members were asked to consider donating cash generated by section 106 planning agreements.
The authority has a cash pot of more than £300,000 thanks to house builder William Davis who developed homes in Droitwich South.
Invested
The firm stumped up money for a community hall on the Ridings estate but residents rejected the scheme and it is now hoped that the funds can be invested in alternative initiatives to benefit Spa folk.
A report for district councillors reveals Droitwich Spa Town Council wants cash for repairs and refurbishment to bring the building into line with current health and safety standards.
Its request has been divided into primary and secondary needs, with works to the roof, a new cold pipe and damp treatments, top of the wish list.
Essential repairs are expected to cost somewhere around £15,000 and secondary works, including laying new flooring, replacing the kitchen, central heating, window glazing and decoration, total a further £18,500.
Council members were yesterday asked to consider the request, which is also subject to approval, by the developer William Davis.
