BOTH teams took advantage of the perfect conditions at Palmer's Meadow to produce an entertaining display of running rugby, Tenbury recovering from a slow start to bag their ninth North Midlands 2 victory of the season with a 23-10 victory and consolidate their position in the top half of the table.
Aldridge made a bright start and took an early lead with a successful penalty kick after Tenbury were adjudged to have held on to the ball when under pressure.
This roused Tenbury and they produced a series of sustained handling moves which ended with flanker Andy Black joining the backs to cross wide out, Dave Edwards just failing with the conversion.
With their tails up Tenbury extended their lead when Will Morgan finished off a series of strong thrusts by taking a short pass from skipper Steve Price to crash over for a second unconverted try.
Edwards made amends for missing his conversion to land a penalty and give Tenbury a 10-point interval lead.
The teams kept up the tempo in the warm sunshine and inevitably the packs and defences started to get a little tired. Centre Darren Kite took advantage with a strong burst and when challenged slipped a pass to winger Edwards who crossed in the corner. Aldridge hit back with a well-worked try following a good line-out take and a powerful drive that covered 30 yards, the successful conversion closing the gap to eight points. Tenbury's backs ensured victory with a sweeping move and slick passing to create an overlap for Edwards to race for a second try.
