REDDITCH Regents are still waiting to hear a decision on their title rivals' penultimate fixture.

Second-placed Smiths Wood Sabres had to beat Avon Valley to have any chance of matching Regents in the title race on the final day next Wednesday but had the fixture postponed at the eleventh hour.

Regents are presuming Avon Valley called the match off and are waiting to hear if Smiths Wood will be awarded the fixture.

If so, Regents have to win at Orillo next week to be certain of being crowned champions.

Their match tips-off at 8.15pm while Smiths Wood start at the same time in a match they must win at Warley B.

And Regents coach Dave Bradshaw will have one of his injured players courtside with a mobile phone at Warley to keep him updated on developments even though points difference is unlikely to come into the equation.

If Regents and Smiths Wood finish with identical records - with both of them claiming one win in their two league meetings - the title will probably be decided by a one-off title play-off.

Regals stayed on course to finish third by beating Buccaneers by 14 points at their adopted University College, Worcester, base.

The Ladies take on Tyseley Tigers at Worcester tonight (7.30pm tip) before finishing their league programme at Tipton Dolphins on Sunday (3.15pm tip).
