A COVERED sorting centre has been proposed by a Worcester recycling company, to improve its on-site facilities.
Blackpole Recycling has applied to Worcestershire County Council for an extra storage area in its yard and an extension to its current building at Blackpole Trading Estate.
Recyclable materials are currently brought to the skip hire depot, which stores and sorts materials outside.
The proposed 72ft by 42ft extension to an existing workshop would create additional covered facilities to allow extra skip sorting to take place.
Storage
Changing part of the current yard for storage would also allow more recyclable products to be stored, crushed and screened.
A Waste Management licence is needed for the extra facilities and the director of Environmental Services has recommended planning permission should be granted, subject to terms and conditions.
These include having plans in place to deal with flooding, as the site borders Barbourne Brook, a stream which has a one in 100-year flood risk.
The council's Planning and Regulatory Committee is set to discuss the proposals on Tuesday, April 15.
