THE safety of children is due to come under the spotlight next week when people are invited to have their child car seats checked.
Worcestershire County Council will be carrying out checks on seats to make sure they are suitable for the vehicle and are fitted correctly.
The free checks, at Halfords, in Blackpole, on Thursday, April 10, between 4pm and 7pm, are part of a county-wide scheme by the council's Road Safety Team.
Barbara Wood, assistant road safety officer with the council, said following successful testing sessions at Halfords, in Redditch, the scheme had been extended across the county, including Evesham, Droitwich and Kidderminster.
She said everyone was invited to come along and have their child's car seat checked.
"I'm always happy to meet different organisations such as parent and toddler groups, if my diary allows," said Ms Wood.
"And I'm always arranging drop-in sessions around the county where drivers can stop off without an appointment."
