A MAN with Parkinson's disease has hit the famous Route 66 to raise money for a national charity.
Roger Pearsall has been joined by Clive Hatt on a Harley Davidson to ride the 2,500 mile stretch from Chicago to Los Angeles to raise money for the Parkinson's Disease Society.
And Katy Carver will be pushing herself to her limit for the cause by running in the London Marathon on Sunday.
Roger, a retired engineering lecturer, from Hatfield, near Worcester, has raised money for the charity through the years.
Clive, aged 53, from Bliss Gate, near Bewdley, lost his son, Sean, to testicular cancer six years ago.
The pair have been raising money for various charities since.
"We have been talking about doing it for years," said Clive, who owns a kitchen business. "But we never got round to it."
The pair are not alone on their trip.
Clive's nine-year-old son Lewis and Roger's 16-year-old-son Ross are travelling with them in a support vehicle in case Roger, who does not have an acute form of the disease, becomes tired.
Katy, who is a personal trainer, said she had been training very hard for the marathon and was now eager to start.
She has a client who suffers from Parkinson's and another whose husband has the disease.
"Through my relationship with them I have learnt quite a lot about it," said the 40-year-old from St Dunstan's Close, Battenhall, Worcester.
"I will have quite a few supporters so it will be nice to have people cheering me on," she added.
