A PAIR of enterprising Cleobury Mortimer friends have swapped houses to find their ideal home - and invited a TV company to make a programme about it.
Delia Boddey and Dawn Powick were both unhappy with where they were living - interior design fanatic Delia wanted a new challenge after several years spent creating her dream home while busy Dawn, a GP, simply wanted somewhere nice to live that did not need any work.
The two quickly chanced upon each other's needs and did a deal.
They would switch houses and, after a small fee changed hands, have what they wanted - Dawn has a dream home and Delia has the chance to re-decorate a new property.
Now Carlton TV is in on the story and has sent the crew of Our House to document their plans. Delia Boddey relaxes at the home she will soon be leaving.
Delia, who has her own curtain business, said she was looking forward to upgrading from a four to six-bedroom house and being let loose on the inside with her husband Alan, a professional kitchen-fitter.
She said: "It needs a complete revamp. We will be redesigning the inside which will include knocking walls down and generally giving it a whole new look.
"It will be a contemporary, open plan house. We are going to spend as much time as we can and we estimate it will take in the region of £20, 000 to complete."
The swap between the houses on Tenbury Mead and Pinkham Lane also suits Dawn just fine. She said she is looking forward to putting her feet up, free of worry about the housework.
She said: "It will be lovely to walk into somewhere that is really special. I would love to have time to work on a home but I am too busy, so I get a good deal out of this."
The programme will be broadcast as part of ITV's autumn-winter schedule.
