BLOCKLEY BAND: Founded well over 100 years ago, Blockley Brass Band is still playing and seeking to secure the next years of its long history.
The band meets each week, on Friday evenings in St George's Hall. It enjoys a number of pleasant, traditional, engagements and, in the past, has contributed to many aspects of life in the area.
The president, David Stanley, who played in the band as a boy, has agreed to conduct them for the coming months. Plans include taking part in a massed bands training day conducted by Andy Culshaw.
New recruits are very welcome. The band would particularly like to hear from cornet players but all instrumentalists are welcome. Instruments are available and young players looking to play in a group, or those who have played in the past and would enjoy joining a friendly body of people to enjoy making music, are equally welcome.
