GUIDES: In memory of their late leader Mrs Eileen Huband, Eckington Guides held a special coffee evening and raised £108 for Cancer Research UK. They provided cakes, coffee, a raffle and many stalls with their own handicrafts including garden lanterns. Everyone was made very welcome at this event and it was a great pleasure to see many of the current 23 Guides in the group.

CRACK CANCER CAMPAIGN: Dorothy Ludlow is holding her next grand sale in aid of the Cobalt Unit Appeal Fund on Saturday, April 12 at 2pm in the village hall. These sales are always very popular with many bargains to be had. For more details please ring Dorothy on 01386 750593.

NEW RECREATION CENTRE: Hopefully all households in the village have seen the first edition of the New Build Newsletter. If you have not seen a copy please ring Liz Crumpton on 079 800 223 86 and a copy will be delivered to you.

The next fundraiser for the new building is a car wash by the village youths on Saturday, April 12 at the recreation centre. For more details please ring Richard Forrest on 01386 750784.

Eckington Under Fives are also holding a fundraiser for the new building. On Saturday, April 19 come along to their Easter Eggstravaganza, 2-4pm at the recreation centre.

ECKINGTON FIRST SCHOOL: Congratulations to all involved with putting on the school production, The Blue Crystal, last week.

All the hard work from pupils, staff and friends really paid off and a marvellous show was presented six times to packed houses. The school have a new website address - www.eckingtonfirst.ik.org - and would welcome all comments in their guest book.

The next fundraiser for the school is the FOES feast on Saturday, May 10, 7.30pm at the village hall. The evening includes mulled wine on arrival, a three-course meal and live entertainment.
