A teenager who took his £50 car for a test run prior to selling it ended up in a load of trouble, Worcester Crown Court was told.
Christopher Ryder, who was disqualified from driving, gave a friend's name when stopped by police, said Timothy Green, prosecuting.
He drove off and crashed the E-registeration Ford Fiesta into a tree.
Ryder, 18, of Astley Court, Stourport, pleaded guilty to driving while banned, attempting to pervert the course of justice, driving carelessly and without insurance.
He was remanded on bail for a pre-sentence report.
