RECORDS tumbled on the night that Evesham Casuals were crowned league champions.

However, the feats came in the opening match after which Casuals easily overcame Ashton to claim top spot.

Simon Cooper smashed the highest ever individual score of 75 not out as Elmley Castle rattled up 145-4 against Dumbleton. And, helping the all-rounder add an unbroken stand of 108 was newcomer to the game Emsley.

Cooper's ally was a late inclusion for depleted Castle - recruited as he left an earlier net session - but he proved an able replacement after Elmley had been reduced to 37-4.

Dumbleton were on course for victory after seven overs as they stood on 80-1 but Cooper clean bowled Hottinger and run-outs in successive overs ended the Gloucestershire club's chase.

Casuals strolled to a seventh successive win despite losing Charlton to the fourth ball of the night.

Steed, Cross, Smith and Mitchell all reached the mandatory 25 with the latter returning to finish unbeaten on 46 in an Evesham score of 163-3.

Ashton raced to 31 after only three overs but the loss of two wickets proved crucial.

Banks and Haines came together at 44-4 and added 60 runs but there was only going to be one winner as Casuals staged a champions show.
