PLANS to celebrate the opening of Pershore's new heritage centre have been put on hold because of ongoing work at the new town hall.
The Pershore Heritage and History Society had hoped to hold a grand opening of the new heritage centre on Saturday but continuing work at the new town hall in High Street means the party has been postponed.
The centre was based at the former town council offices at Belle House in Bridge Street, but has now moved out of the premises, along with the town council.
"They won't let us in until the lift has been finished," said secretary Marion Freeman.
"We're very disappointed, because we have now had to postpone the event until later in the year."
Town clerk Ken Myers said the builders were still running behind schedule, but hoped to complete work this week with a protracted opening date of Saturday, May 3.
