WHILE I agree with some points about Malvern's decline raised by Richard W Brown in his letter "The Hills are alive to the sound of musings"(Evening News, Saturday, April 5) I can't agree with his point about St Ann's Well Caf being "a shadow of its former self".
I frequent St Ann's Well Caf, and have done for more than 30 years now and I find the current management and staff are always friendly and helpful.
Perhaps Mr Brown's arthritis may have prevented him from visiting the caf for some years, but you can get to it on the level path that comes out on Wyche Road.
And Malvern may be in decline but at least we still have a theatre. Furthermore, how many towns of Malvern's size can claim to have a theatre where you can see, not only nationally-known actors like Rik Mayall, but also world-class players like Patrick Stewart of Star Trek fame?
RICHARD PUTLEY,
Malvern.
