A PARTNERSHIP which brings together county parishes with their Peruvian counterparts was celebrated in Stourport on Saturday.

Some 40 people mostly from nine Worcestershire parishes - including Far Forest - linked with the Anglican diocese in Peru took in South American food, music and artefacts at St Michael and All Angels parish hall.

"It was great, everyone enjoyed it and it gave us a time to remember all of our contacts and people in Peru," said Margaret Rutter, the chairman of the Worcester diocese's Peru Task Group. "You get to know each other in friendship and obviously support each other in prayer. You realise the Anglican church isn't just the Church of England on this very small island but it is out there in the world."

Information and pictures on the diocese's Peruvian partners were also on display during the afternoon.

And Miss Rutter said it was not just parishes but other groups that were linked.

"The Far Forest Brownies are hoping to link with Brownies in Peru," she said. "We hope that the communities around the church will become involved."

The partnership started about 10 years ago after a Worcester priest visited Peru.
