THE champagne corks will be popping next month when an unusual venue hosts a ball which is set to raise thousands of pounds for the Kemp Hospice Appeal.
Kidderminster Harriers will stage the glittering event for at least 300 guests on the pitch at its Aggborough stadium once the football season ends.
The idea was dreamed up after keen Harriers supporter and corporate entertainment businesswoman Dawn Anglin - who has put on parties at all kinds of venues including the Royal Albert Hall - decided it would be an ideal way for the club to give something back to the community.
And Miss Anglin - who is not making any money from organising the bash - promised party-goers her professional know-know would ensure they were not disappointed.
"I go to a lot of parties and I think they could be better", she said. "I hope I can put my hand on my heart and say this will be a night to remember."
Miss Anglin added: "I really think that people will have a good time and in doing so they will be giving something to Kemp."
She hailed the hospice as a good cause which deserved all the help it could get.
Kemp is appealing for funds to enable it to move to bigger and better premises in Kidderminster's Mason Road.
Guests will be greeted with a champagne reception before sitting down to a four-course meal and being entertained by a live band.
Fund-raising events will include a casino, auction with a Manchester United shirt signed by five past and present club captains as one of the prizes, and a tombola.
Miss Anglin is hoping to book celebrities such as television presenter Nick Owen for the occasion.
She is already two-thirds of the way to reaching her target of selling 300 tickets.
