YOU kindly allowed me space last week to write in about the Cottage Hospital. I have now realised that there may be a simpler and possibly cheaper way of easing the problems of the Cottage Hospital in the shorter term.
The local authority document (Modernising health services in Pershore) says that Abbotswood wants to develop a physiotherapy facility. If this could be brought forward to take over the physiotherapy facility at the Cottage Hospital, this would release the present physio room at the Hospital to be made a ward for 6-8 beds, taking the pressure off the present male ward, possibly even releasing it for barrier nursing.
Could this strategy allow a longer and slower look at the general problem, and could it, in particular, release enough space at Heathlands to save at least some of the elderly threatened with accommodation away from Pershore?
