A MAN threatened to head-butt two police officers while being treated in hospital for a cut he suffered when damaging his ex-girlfriend's window.
Blair Mercer, aged 21, also assaulted Helen James after their six-week relationship ended, Worcester magistrates heard yesterday.
Suzanne Llewellyn, prosecuting, said Mercer went round to Miss James' house after the break-up of their relationship and asked if he could pick up some of his belongings.
"She told him to stop messing her around," she said. "There was a dispute between them, and she tried to push him away."
Miss Llewellyn said Mercer then hit Miss James on the head with a bag containing a computer console, and kicked her in the leg.
She said she kicked him back, in the hope he would go away. Miss James claimed the struggle continued as she left the house, with Mercer kicking her several times and pulling her hair.
Miss Llewellyn said Miss James screamed when Mercer put her in a headlock, and three men came to her aid.
The assault took place on Sunday, January 26. On Saturday, February 8, Mercer went to Miss James' house again but she would not let him in.
"He smashed the front window and said 'I'm going to put your windows in'," the prosecutor said.
When the police arrived, they arrested him and took him to hospital, where he became increasingly aggressive towards the two police officers.
"He said he was a London boy and he was going to head-butt the pair of them," said Miss Llewellyn.
As he left the hospital, he struggled free and kicked one of the officers on the leg.
Mercer, of Lowesmoor, Worcester, admitted common assault, assaulting a police officer and criminal damage, but said he only hit Miss James with the bag once.
Richard Wilkes, defending, said there was a scuffle but Mercer denied kicking her. He said the offences were caused by alcohol.
"He couldn't recall what had happened," he said.
Magistrates adjourned the case until Wednesday, May 7, for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
