A MAJOR grant from English Heritage will help to regenerate an historic Evesham street.
Port Street is one of eight areas in the West Midlands to benefit from Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme (HERS) grants.
The grant will be matched by further funding from Wychavon District Council and the Advantage West Midlands market towns initiative over three years.
HERS concentrates on neighbourhood businesses, high streets and corner shops, providing money for the repair and enhancement of buildings, while the market towns initiative tackles wider issues not just linked to building enhancement.
Evesham's distinctive townscape and character stands to benefit from the joining up of the two schemes.
