THIS Sunday is Palm Sunday and the family service at St Peter's Church will be at 11am when palm crosses will be distributed. On Maundy Thursday, April 17, there will be a communion service at Powick at 8pm. On Good Friday there is a procession of witness in Malvern Link, meeting at 9.15am, followed by a short service at the United Reformed Church, to which all are welcome. To celebrate Easter there will be communion at 8am and 11am.
Tomorrow (Saturday) there is a coffee morning at the Orchard Club, Colletts Green, from 10am to noon. There will be raffle, cakes, bric-a-brac etc in aid of the senior citizens' club.
Powick Ramblers met for a five-mile walk yesterday (Thursday) around the Wyche and Earnslaw Quarry, Malvern led by Jo Walker and Rita de Boer. Next Tuesday, a four-mile walk in the Spetchley area takes place at 10am. Meet at the layby on the left side of the A4221 Stratford Road, past Spetchley Gardens. Leaders are Isabel and Peter Brant.
Powick Playing Field Association holds its annual general meeting on Wednesday at 7.30pm in Powick Parish Hall. Do come and find out about the work of the association, to review future plans especially with reference to a grant of £4,000 received from Awards for All. The association is a registered charity and exists to maintain and develop the recreational field behind the school for the benefit of all who live in the area. A future fundraising event is planned for May 17 at the parish hall, from 9am till noon. Book this date to purchase bedding plants, indoor plants and hanging baskets.
